Dr. Robert Swap leads the NASA Pandora Project at Goddard Space Flight Center’s Laboratory for Atmospheric Chemistry and Dynamics. He has also served as a NASA HQ Program Officer with the ESD Radiation Sciences Program. Dr. Swap, an award winning environmental scientist and educator who focuses on understanding coupled human-natural systems through the study of land-atmosphere interactions, has held a range of academic and leadership positions for international, interdisciplinary research and education initiatives in emerging regions, most notably, sub-equatorial Africa and Brazil. Dr. Swap, a former Carnegie Foundation Virginia Professor of the Year, also holds an Extraordinary Professor in Environmental Sciences and Management appointment at North West University in South Africa. He has lectured extensively on responsible engagement for AAAS, TWAS, the UN and numerous national/international universities. His Interests beyond interdisciplinary science include Science Diplomacy, servant leadership, experiential learning and working with students.
